kegger1045 2 #1 Posted December 25, 2024 plow / deck won't lock in up position. I have seen a topic from back in 2022 along with a diagram stating that item 20 need to be adjusted. I just can't seem to understand or know how to get to it without having the tractor up high enough to get under it. Can anyone add a little more information. I just stop working all of a sudden. Thanks in advance to anyone that my be able to give me more info. The Tractor is a C105 / 1983 And has been a real work horse for many years. It's main use now a days is just plowing snow and pushing dirt. Have JD tractor (box store model 2017) for mowing grass only.
Lee1977 6,857 #2 Posted December 25, 2024 If the lift chain is adjusted too short they won't latch up. You can remove the bottom panel below the dash there two screws at the top of the panel. I don't think there is anything attached to that panel on your model. Run the trunnion up on the eye bolt until it will latch up. 4
SylvanLakeWH 26,101 #3 Posted December 25, 2024 Try turning the lift arm adjustment knob a few turns when the arm is forward.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,121 #4 Posted December 25, 2024 Welcome to Red Square. Although your tractor is newer this manual will help in many ways.. Follow the C-Series.
stevasaurus 22,903 #5 Posted December 25, 2024 One thing to check that I discovered this past year...make sure the attach-a-matic on the front is pinned in the open position. It gets in the way of lifting the blade fully if not pinned. At least on my 60's short frame square hoods.
photoguy 160 #6 Posted December 25, 2024 I had one that the lift lever had a slight bend in it that made the rod in it bind not letting the button come back up. Pushed forward on it to straighten and button worked freely locking plow catch.
kegger1045 2 #7 Posted December 28, 2024 Gentlemen, Thank you for all the suggestions. I finally got back to the garage and it turn out after getting it up to look underneath it. I don't know how it. happened but one of the links of chain got a twist to it and made the lift to short. Once I undid the chain all is good again and I am ready to plow snow again. I did end up. taking the side panels off and that turned out as most of you know got me absolutely no where. I needed to get under it. Being alone at home I was not to anxious to craw under it with no one around. Once again Thank you.

The panel I mention is right in front of the gear shift with two screws at the top. There was no need to take the snow plow off.
peter lena 8,822 #9 Posted December 29, 2024 @kegger1045 another area you check over for functional movement is the side to side , console bronze mounting / movement areas , like some open / gear / chain lube in all related movement areas , often say , make the rust run out , another area often neglected , is the lift lever push button top area , there is a spring on the lower end of that set up , penetrating oil will show you what's moving . its not one part , its every related part . pete
