Accidentally bent drive pulley when trying to remove...

Recommended Posts

Ive fought alot of these cast pulleys, i usually start with knock er loose about a half hour prior to loosen the set screws, rust.  Then once those are out; fill the holes with more knock er loose.  Then ill tap a couple chisels in behind the pulley, or flathead screwdrivers, just looking for slight outward pressure.  Ill put a drift of some type on tge crank end and give it a whack..the softer metal drift, such as brass, protects the crank.the slight crank endplay us your friend here, once its moving it when ill put a bit of heat on the pulley..nothing crazy, just looking for some expansion, they usually slip off.  Ive never broken a pulley but ive had many that were already broken...jaw pullers will do that

@Alrashid2  have a set screw on that  ?  KROIL  is the best lubrication  creeper ever , also like to remove set screw , and leave it at 12 o'clock , so you can refill  screw hole , inhance creep , this anything that I have had an issue with , do not expect an immediate response , do this on a area that you have access to , and is in use , kroil tracking is easy to follow , on a vibrating engine , would also favor  a very solid leverage attempt to start , when you can overpower a frozen pulley , with solid leverage , its strength against strength , a split  bearing puller , will probably do it , pete

@Alrashid2  done a number of used horses , my base line recovery start , is follow the rust  !  immediately  am overwhelmed with abuse , neglect , butchered everything !   used to be gear oils , draining  out , frozen cables dripping kroil , wire tracing , frayed fuse connections , drop carb bowl , hook up separate gallon of heavily treated fresh gas , back of dash , corrosion / wet grass  coverage , "  oil " is like tar , clutch / break  pedals frozen rust , no shift boot , pto lever barely moves, back of seat bottom , sitting on the top of rear fender edge , sound familiar . last one I did , took about a month , all that time , there was penetrating oil soaking into the " paint " , was turning  perfect period paint on its own . deep reddish / brown , mineral oil wipe down , gave it perfect patina , engine sputtered , used a 10- 30 oil , and rislone zinc , for run in , initial , smoke start , as it warmed up , smoke stopped , what have I done ? got some hours on that engine, no smoke , ran very well ,always ran stabil  fuel additive , sold it , gave new owner , all my recommendations'  for  how to , maintain  operation , pete
