Wheel horse tiller for 520H what other attachments do I need?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I found a good tiller deal right near me but guy said no belt or mid pulley included. I know parts site sells bunch of parts for the tiller itself but just wondered with tiller itself what other parts I would need to buy to get it to work on my tractor. Much appreciated!

This parts list shows what was included with the tiller.

WHX??

For a 520 you will need the rear rockshaft kit, the mid-mount assembly and a axle bracket. They can all be had from Parts n more but your looking at a pretty substantial investment. Pretty much a deal breaker for me unless the tiller is less than 100 and the tines better be in good shape. An option would be to scrounge used  parts but hit n miss.

Yeah the tiller is for sale for $100 and tines look in decent shape too.

Go to https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/ and add up the items I listed. The axle bracket can be had cheaper elswhere and you may get blind outhouse lucky and find the parts on fleabay or such. For 100 the tines are worth that for someone who might need replacement donor tines.

Oh okay yeah just added everything up for those parts and it’s $485. More than I was expecting. Guess I’ll wait until I find a complete tiller then.

Yeah that's about what I came up with and that's without shipping,

Well it wouldn't hurt to give Lowell a call and see if he can do a package deal. He's pretty good that way.

It bums me out that there is a tractor running around out there with your parts on it yet which are good for nothing without the tiller.

Another idea is to put on your detective cap and try and back track POs for the parts. Might be far fetched but ???

I feel for ya as I bought a deuce snow blower and was in the sane predicament. Guys here helped me out immensely to put it together.

Yeah I think I’ll have to do some more digging and searching around. Just wanted to get a tiller to do a couple small food plots this spring for deer on my property.

Can you contact the seller to see if they have the rest of the parts?

They make another $100 and you save many.

That's what I meant about the detective cap.

A halfway decent tiller with all the parts should go for about 3 -350.

That's why that tiller has been on marketplace for months :D.  Complete ones in decent condition sell VERY quickly.

I've been tempted myself, but I already have too many other projects I'm parts searching for.

I picked up a tiller last spring from a young couple just over the WI border that had recently bought this old farm and the tiller was just sitting in the barn. When I showed up and they showed me the tiller, there wasn't anything else with it. I already have a tiller (that is not in the best of shape) so I already had all the hookups and mid mount pulley, but while I was there I asked if they had any of that anyway (with a brief description of what the items looked like). They weren't certain but said they would look around with me. Not 10 ft from where the tiller was sitting in the barn was a pile of "junk" and in the "junk" under a ripped up tarp and some other stuff was the complete mid mount pulley assembly with the belt and cover plate. They had no idea it was there and since it matched my description of it, they gave it to me at our previously negotiated price.

Moral of the story is it never hurts to ask.

Pullstart

It’s probably worth getting, and wait it out for a clapped out tiller package with worn tines..

Yeah I think I might reach out to wheel horse barn near me in New Oxford, PA. Bought a deck from them in the past and they were great. Probably have a tiller or 2.

I think before you decide to not buy the tiller, it would help us better to determine if it's worth $100 we need a couple of photos of the working side. You said the tines were in decent shape, if that's true it's worth $100 at least down here. I've bought just the tiller a couple of time over the year down here and over time found the rest of the stuff in good shape on this site, ebay and other sites for far less than $400 and that counting shipping. I understand why the guys here are saying it's probably not worth it, because they, like you live in the land of plenty, and since you do, those parts can be found used for a decent price. I couple of photos of the tines would help a lot, the outside of the car looks in good shape:handgestures-thumbupright:, we just need to see what's under the hood:confusion-shrug:.

IMG_4261.jpegNow looking at it the tine look pretty worn. So probably not worth it then.

Yes, they are worn but when new they appear to be half worn out.

Yep their worn but still very usable, the rest of it looks about like the tines, a bit road hard but definitely not road hard and put up wet. Depending on the type soil you have those tine will work, down here in our sandy soil it works just fine. If you have harder soil and even some rock mixed in you would have to make a few more passes with the first about an 2 inches deep and lowering it a bit each past till you get to about 3.5 to 4 inch. I'm not trying to tell you it's worth it to you, you do you but the tiller is worth $100.
