NCAA Football Playoffs

The NCAA playoffs are near. Most of you know I'm a big Notre Dame fan who will be playing Indiana for the first time since 1991. We were at that game and it was one of the best times we've had and a football game. We've been to a lot of games and the fans on both sides have always played well together but with this one the fan interaction was second to none. I've always wished they would schedule them more often. At all the Notre Dame games and NASCAR races we went to I always purchased a program. I had to dig it out. Notice the program and the ticket price.

I was thumbing through it mainly to refresh my mind as to who played that year. I came across this.

There's going to be a bit of a rivalry in this house Friday night. Nancy and I pull for IU EXCEPT this time since it involves Notre Dame. Our daughter has a Masters degree from IU. It's gonna be fun! :angry-boxing:

A lot of  fans here in Pa. are upset with the PSU back up QB ,Beau Probila, entering the NCAA transfer portal and not being eligible to play in any of the post season games.

Unfortunately, with endorsements and the recent NCAA decision to pay  2.8 billion$ back pay to players,  it is clear college sports is all about the dollars.  :(

Sorry for the rant Bob.      Enjoy the games.

That's all right Ed. It's unfortunate but you're right. It's all the sports. I just shake my head and try to look past it. Otherwise it would take the enjoyment out of it. :)

Well, here we go, the 1st 12 team playoff.  Right off the top, I feel like it is Indiana's year...in the 1st round.  If Notre Dame had a conference, they had a chance of being like a number 4 team.  I saw in the papers that the Ivy League is looking to play post season games next year.  It is all about money...but what isn't these days???  I hate this saying, but..."it is what it is."  Anyway...may the best team win !!  Anyway you look at it...Indiana has a team moving on !!  :occasion-xmas:

I don't see any reason for Notre Dame to join a conference. Sure, it might make it a bit easier for them in their quest for another championship but it would put handcuffs on them as far as scheduling. They typically have one of the top 10 toughest schedules because they want to play signature games. This year was a major exception. They are undoubtedly the biggest draw in NCAA football and they want to keep it that way. A conference would likely wipe out their television agreement that's pretty much watered down compared to what it was but the networks still want them ($$$ of course). I don't think Boise State of Arizona State really deserved their seeding but the NCAA said that's the way it is. Who knows, they might surprise everyone.

Whatever type of format the NCAA decides for a playoff is fine with me. I think Indiana deserved to be in the playoffs and Cignetti is a great coach but I don't see them as team to be reckoned with on a regular basis. They could surprise people too.

If Notre Dame gets pressured into a conference so be it. I'll still be a die hard fan.  :D
