What to do with this…

Pullstart

2011 Kia Forte.

173 hp 2.4L / 6 speed automatic.

The tire went flat.  They didn’t know how to change it.  Drove it, broke the wheel, and the battery died.  So it was parked.  Freebie!

The smart thing to do would be drive it and get amazing fuel mileage, but that seems silly!  I’m thinking a spacer lift, 29” mud tires and have fun :happy-partydance:

I stuck a battery in it, changed the tire (yes, the special socket was right in the passenger seat in a box of stock lug nuts), and drove it off the dolly.

some zip ties holding the bumper in place, and a sawzall to trim the bottom broken part, and it’s ready to go.  The hood is bare metal and surface rusted.  The Downpipe bellows is broken, so it’s a bit noisy.

Man, I was the family’s designated tire changer from age 12 or 13. Summers to snows and back. And Dad always waited until it snowed and was freezing cold to do the summer to snow switch. Here they also make tire changing a part of the HS driver ed program!

The wheel lug pattern is 5 on 4.5, just like our beloved Wheel Horses, Jeeps and Ford Rangers. I learned today that these Wrangler 15” wheels will not quite clear the front brakes.  The 31” tire will not fit inside the wheel well without major trimming!

So, 16” wheels are minimum and 29” tires are maximum.

Hey hey hey... :angry-tappingfoot:

Play nice... :angry-nono:

@Pullstart's place is a lot closer to Cheeseland... the prevailing winds carry a lot of curd-odor to the western side of the Mitten... not his fault... he's a victim... :handgestures-thumbupright:

Explorers used the 5x4.5 and had a wide selection of 16" wheels.

So did the 3.5 Taurus, Flex, and Edge.

That engine isn't Kia's best effort.  Four coworkers have/had Kias with that engine.  Three have had replacement engines installed.

Even being a freebie I think you might have paid too much. :)

From a capable motor vehicle.  It needs to be able to start and drive and be mobile.  We can hunt from something that won’t start, or drive, or move…

I know... I was joking ... but with your capacity to make things move I'm thinking Ranger Rick :law-policeblue: will go ahead and write you up if the Kia winds up in a tree... :ychain:

From what @wh500special said about the engines it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement wheel for the one that got destroyed.

I would be inclined to put as little $ as posable into it and pass it on to a new owner.          :twocents-02cents:
