Mark siebenaler 97 #1 Posted December 14 I'm having a hard time to get the float bowl gasket from leaking gas. I'm on the second gasket and still leaks Both are used gaskets but they appear fine. A couple years ago we removed the fuel Pump and just had gravity feed to carb ( because it was leaking gas) And it never leaked . Recently I did more work on it etc etc. And decided it would be a good time to get the pump back on And it's leaking again. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ebinmaine 68,452 #3 Posted December 14 Do you have the carb off the engine while attempting to install the bowl? Can you show pics of the bowl? Is the bottom of the bowl warped/ corroded/ damaged? When was the last time the carb was properly soaked and rebuilt? Do you use NON Ethanol gas? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Mark siebenaler 97 #4 Posted December 14 After more visual inspiration it is actually not leaking at float bowl it's coming out of air filter and down onto bowl. This was an aftermarket carberater a few years back so now I'm wondering maybe I need to get another new carberater or ? Any suggestions 🤔 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Any suggestions 🤔 Before you replace a part you NEED to diagnose the actual issue. If the carburetor is being fed dirty fuel then that needs to be fixed first. How old is the fuel line? Even on an after market carb, this means that the float valve is not closing properly and may be as simple to fix as a good carb cleaning (stuck valve or float). I've now seen two of his from big block Kohler engines that IMHO wore out prematurely. Lots of folks have decent luck using cheap carbs from many places on small block Kohlers.
