Mark siebenaler 97 #1 Posted December 14 I'm having a hard time to get the float bowl gasket from leaking gas. I'm on the second gasket and still leaks Both are used gaskets but they appear fine. Any suggestions maybe it's something else like needle valve not seating?
Mark siebenaler 97 #2 Posted December 14 I would like to add something i just found out to my post . A couple years ago we removed the fuel Pump and just had gravity feed to carb ( because it was leaking gas) And it never leaked . Recently I did more work on it etc etc. And decided it would be a good time to get the pump back on And it's leaking again.
ebinmaine 68,461 #3 Posted December 14 Do you have the carb off the engine while attempting to install the bowl? Can you show pics of the bowl? Is the bottom of the bowl warped/ corroded/ damaged? When was the last time the carb was properly soaked and rebuilt? Do you use NON Ethanol gas?

Any suggestions 🤔 Before you replace a part you NEED to diagnose the actual issue. If the carburetor is being fed dirty fuel then that needs to be fixed first. How old is the fuel line? Do you use alcohol laced gasoline?
Mark siebenaler 97 #6 Posted December 14 New fuel lines recently and filter No ethanol either ever...

Even on an after market carb, this means that the float valve is not closing properly and may be as simple to fix as a good carb cleaning (stuck valve or float). If the valve seat or pin are damaged on an aftermarket carb, you’ll need a new carb.

I've now seen two of his from big block Kohler engines that IMHO wore out prematurely. Lots of folks have decent luck using cheap carbs from many places on small block Kohlers. Skwerl58 710 #12 Posted December 15 I have an isave tractor carb on my 414-8 and it is fine. Been on it a couple of years. Cranks fine in hot or cold and throttles up like the factory carb.
