Pullstart 64,452 #1 Posted December 14, 2024 I got a new fork truck the other day, something a Neanderthal like me can work on with simple tools and logic. Now, I have two electric jobbers out back that can go! 7
Pullstart 64,452 #2 Posted December 14, 2024 Running tally: The machine: $0 Wrecker bill to haul it home: $100 Reconditioned battery: $70 Wrong points kit: $13 D14 spark plugs: $20 New coil: In stock subtotal: $203 The parts store has a cap and rotor and the correct points waiting for me. I’m sure a set of plug wires would do this well, and so would an oil change. 5
953 nut 57,768 #3 Posted December 14, 2024 (edited) Now that you have a forklift you can get the truck project down from the storage racks and finish it before @ebinmaine finishes Colossus. Is that a Continental engine? They were used in lots of industrial applications and were tough as nails. Edited December 14, 2024 by 953 nut 1
squonk 42,457 #4 Posted December 14, 2024 Industrial engines can be a PITA to get the correct parts for. Just because a certain model engine was used in a forklift, doesn't mean it uses the same stuff in a street sweeper. I went round and round with a Tennant sweeper with a Continental engine. Guy wanted tune up parts. There were like 8 different variations of points caps and rotors. Get the number off of the distributor if possible

Pullstart 64,452 #10 Posted December 15, 2024 Thanks for the interest fellas! Yeah, that truck needs attention one way or another, it takes up way too much space sitting there!
Pullstart 64,452 #11 Posted March 17 Part of my waste oil build has been this pallet racking. Today I cut some milled hardwood to length and filled up two sets of crossmembers. This marks the first time I’ve used the hilo for anything in the shop! 2
