There’s a picture of a red car in the background! I’ve got a B in that colour.

@Blasterdad

I have a saying about old Kohlers: if it has compression, it will definitely run! :thumbs:

Nice! Definitely looks like it was used in a stationary application.

Can you clean up the housing tag to see the model and spec numbers?

It may not have a PTO ball bearing as it is non WH.

I like to run those #s just for S & Gs   to see who the motor was built for. Never fails to amaze all the OEMs they were produced for.

Probably not a generator unless it was belt driven and it’d have to be ~3.5 kw or smaller. I’ll go with a pump or maybe a hay bale or grain conveyor.

Wow! GREAT link, according to the link spec # 30452 is a model listed as "BASIC". So basically it's just a BASIC K181, not quite sure if there's a company called "BASIC" or if it"s a basic K181. :dunno::ROTF:

@Blasterdad  very nice , agree with the possibilities on that , brought back a number of  long sitting questionable  engines , like rislone zinc  additive to  a 30 wt rotella oil , 2 oz per qt of oil , the running ease is very obvious , been using that in my engines for years , really cuts the varnish in an engine , also drop carb bowl  and run on seperate gallon of treated fresh fuel , wake it up easily , emphasize  rotational running ease on those engines , very good base line on any engine , pete

Standard Kohler paint color was blue. Yes they painted other colors at the request of the buyer.

Wow! GREAT link,

Thanks Blaster it's a great place to research part nos.

I think basic means a generic spec for sale to a OEM who has use for an off the shelf spec motor. Most likely lower priced since Kohler didn't have to change anything to fit a OEM's requirements???

They also sold varying sizes of "counter engines".

Same thing, different verbiage.

The big K582 I have was one.
