Leaving Plow and Wheel Weights on all year?

May be the reason I still have a flip phone, I have managed to brake a few of the flip phones. A couple of them were El Cheap O's put together in some back room with cheap parts. I did drop a good Motoral and back over it with the pickup. The phone I have now is a Kyocera, feel like haveing !/2 a brick in your pocket. I try to keep the front screen back aganst me to protect it.

Hey guys, I think I am missing a few tiny components for my plow/frame setup. The two tiny pins that go on the rear axle bracket on either side, to keep the levers in place. Do any of you know where I can find replacements, or what I can search for at Ace hardware to relace? I rather not find a bolt/nut as I think I am going to be removing/installing this plow back and forth often and would prefer something closer to the original parts which were easy to pop on and off.

Standard ¼” x ¾” clevis pins with R-clips to fit the pin’s holes. TSC, Hillman hardware drawers--any good hardware source. Buy a pack of each--they tend to run away from you and get lost!

We have at least a couple plow frames with smaller holes. We use a hairpin maybe 1/8" diameter?

Excellent point. Details of the plow frame mounting bracket have changed over the years. If a ⅛” R clip (hairpin clip) works, go for it!

That's easy enough! Clevis pin, that's the term I was looking for... Thank you guys

 

I'll measure my axle bracket and see what size the holes are

Here are some photos of the wheel weights! Picture isn't doing it justice - they're a nice shiny metallic color now

 

Any idea which way these go on the rear rim? I'm assuming these are not Wheel Horse brand?

There are some good recommendations already here, but I just use cheap old simple hitch pins. Never had one come loose, and let’s face it- my fat a$$ has enough trouble getting down on the floor, much more so getting up. Easy is easy!

Doesn't matter on the brand. The recessed holes face the outside, for the carriage bolt heads to also be recessed.

I get mine from McMaster-Carr, I don't want any more hardware than necessary to snag on things.  Many hardware stores don't have a good selection and you wind up with excessive length.

 I get them from McMaster also but if you only need 4 and your hardware store has long ones...hacksaw time

Ha! I jumped the gun... Was going off of memory when I asked about the clevis pins.

 

My axle bracket is missing the clevis pins because it doesn't have holes for them! Interesting... Did some of these come without them?

 

Any of you have a rear axle bracket with no safety holes for pins? Think they'll hold fine without them?

I do.  

I take the carriage bolts out and replace them with grade 8 regular bolts. 

 

Tighten that right up if you're leaving the plow frame on anyway.

Thanks @ebinmaine for the advice. Curious why you swap the bolts? Couldn't I just tighten down with the carriage bolts?

My plow is VERY heavy so I use all new Grade 8 hardware.

I would drill for the pins. You don't want the frame dropping off when you least expect it.

I've had both. No issue's either way, but tighten them up good if no pins... 

 

Easy to just drill out as well... added insurance...
