The factory wheel horse starter number is NN10268, I don't have the onan number right in front of me.  Unless the original starter is destroyed you could have it rebuilt, if there's a local shop near you.  I got a brand new one years ago and didn't look anything like the original but did bolt up to the block.  A brand new one is pricey though.

Your starter has part number 191-1808-04 or 191-1949-04, note that the position of the solonoid in the relation to the mounting holes is what the -04 determines.  Just search to see examples.  Search for Onan P220 starter.  Whatever you do, try to stay away from cheap starters from China.

The starter is held by two long bolts, yes it is rather difficult to get the bolts started, just get on your belly and take your time.  You have the part numbers above, either one will work.

The starter comes out the side, the comment about getting on your belly is so that you can look straight in and see what you are doing.  Disconnect your battery, remove wires from starter, remove two bolts.

i looked at it this afternoon, does it come out on the fan side or clutch side, if on fan side it must be taken apart to access bolts, let me know.

Clutch side.  Do you have the Onan Service Manual available here?

Onan starters are fairly overbuilt. Clean them out and check the bearings and you’re likely good to go. What does fail often is the solenoid. Those are cheap and somewhat easy to replace.
