Snow plow parts

I'm missing, (what I think it's called) the blade directional rod. The rod that moves the blade from left to right. Connects to the blade and the bracket down by your feet.

 And a rod from the bracket down by your feet to the hand lever.  

I don't think these parts are made anymore. But what would be a good substitute for these?

 I've tried threaded rod from Home Depot. But it wasn't strong enough. It would be d trying to turn the blades.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 

 

P.S. 312-8 and whatever blade came with it.the serial and part numbers are gone.

The lower rod should be 1/2" thick or more. 

I've successfully used a piece of straight rod that I threaded and attached heavy duty heim joints.  

Using heim joints takes ALL the looseness out of bit ends.  

 

The upper rod can be mechanics wire.

The pivot angle rod lengths varied somewhat for different models/years/blade widths. They were attached in different ways at the ends, too. The earliest ones used a flat bar with clevis pins but later came ⅜” rods and finally ½” with “L” bends at the ends.

Measure from the hole in the plow quadrant (set to the middle position) to a point directly below the pivot for the angle control lever. Subtract 60” for snow depth ..

The rod is 32"and the wire is 26" on my 312H 48" plow.    I keep mine in a warm garage.

If you know someone who installs chain link fence ask them for a scrap piece of TENSION WIRE. That is the wire used to stabilize the bottom of the fence, it is what I used for the release handle.

Anyone have instructions and required parts to use a cable instead of the upper rod?

Like a bike brake cable or .....?

I used a garage door cable and turnbuckle for a tensioner when I routed the lever inside the cab on my 520.     I used small eye bolts as cable guides.
