300/400 frame with mid 70s sheet metal?

You would need square hood fender brackets with the rear gas tank because the 76 front tank was just a straight up and down bracket. Unless you want to make or modify one?

Somewhere around here I have a fender bracket from a 77 C160-8 speed.  I'm wondering if I used that bracket with the fender and tank from a 78 it'd be close. Then use spacers as needed like @Lee1977 suggests.

Extend the steering wheel shaft up, add larger tires on the 520 front axle and 25" on the rear and you will have a C-series twin to my 316-8.

Can't go much bigger then the 25" with the 300 frame you'll hit the rear bar

Iused a couple of pieces of 2" channel ( use what you have ) a couple of pieces of 3/4" pipe will workI have a little trouble reaching the clutct, your tall enough it may be an improvement.

I would say the saddle tank is a "must have"

Fuel tank under the seat like the later models.

Just curious Eb, what will go in the spot for the fuel tank on the C-series tower?

Not questioning your idea at all. Just wondering what the need for the tank under the seat is. If you stick with the 8-speed, you’ll have to chop the rear of the tunnel off that bolts down to the tranny. Or possibly use a tower setup from a hydro that is already chopped off.

The ideas I'm tossing around are for the future build/rebuild/ restoration of the Wally Digger Backhoe as a whole.

@wallfish John and I talked about it a bit back in September at @JCM Jim's Meet n Greet.

The 300/400/500 chassis would be a direct bolt to bolt swap of the 1977 loader and John's awesome Backhoe.

I have a personal preference for the sheet metal style of the 1977 and older tractors.

Trina has a huge preference for them as well because the angled steering tower makes them easier to repair & maintain.

The tilt forward seat of the 1976+  is a necessity for operation of the rear controlled Backhoe.

I'd like to have the fuel tank in the back for several reasons.

1. So I don't have to tilt the hood with the loader in the way.

2. I already have a tilting seat so the rear tank would be convenient.

3. Extra fuel capacity.

@Handy Don reminded me yesterday that I already have a 518 frame which has the extra holes for the Gear Reduction Steering pieces.

Ok, I understand now. Again I wasn’t questioning your reasons, just trying to follow along. I look forward to the build!

As far as the magnum with the early sheetmetal, it will all be fine except the muffler. This is a 91 312h.

There ya go. Easy to extend it and the brace out about an inch. Longer pipe nipple and a spacer for the brace.

@Thor27 & @kpinnc

That muffler issue can be solved with a fairly easy swap to a Gravely Style muffler too.

I have 2 here that are facing down and forward. That keeps most of the fumes from the driver.

Like @Thor27 and @kpinnc I enjoyed that style muffler as well on Stormy the 1056.

That was one tractor I could always trust to get chores done, but haven’ much missed it like I figured I would.

You might be able to modify a twin kolher muffler?

Likely could but it's just as easy to install a Gravely Style muffler

Ok Eric. I see now. I hope it turns ok good for you. Nothing like a thought or an idea turned in to real time project.
