rmaynard 15,580 #1 Posted November 27 ...and the rest is history. I'm so glad that back in November of 2009, the day before Thanksgiving, I was looking for a plastic dash for my 1977 B-100. I stumbled upon this site and the rest is history. So many friendships have been created just for the sake of finding a new dash. squonk 41,288 #15 Posted November 27 14 years for me. I remember going to the Pageant of Steam in 2009 and seeing a WH line up there and said wow people collect them. I have no idea why i picked New Years Day to join. We chatted, you said I had to meet this guy @stevasaurus, you brought me over to him and introduced us, and the rest is indeed history. This place has been such a huge resource for me over the years, both for the information and the great people here, I never would have been able to stay with the brand for all this time without all of you. Actually I met Mike McGuire (MikesRJ) who taught me how to refurbish old ones, which started a little cottage industry for me for awhile. Searched around the internet a bit more, found RedSquare, joined, asked my question and came back the following day to find that @meadowfield from England had provided a detailed answer followed by over a dozen welcomes and positive suggestions. I was so impressed that I began reading other posts, learning a lot while gaining respect for the caliber of people on this site. Since that time I haven't missed a day on here if I have internet availability. Between here and the Big Show I’ve met so many like minded people, some becoming good friends. As a kid in 80’s I was thinking “I wonder if I’m the only kid that likes Wheel Horse tractors this much?” Then came the internet and I found out about the Big Show in PA and I went to the second show. As soon as I got there I realized that I’m not the only one that has such a strong appreciation for WH tractors. Since then I’ve only missed 3-4 shows. When I started on RS I had no idea how much of an impact it would have on my life. It’s certainly fueled my addiction to these machines. There’s so many nice and knowledgeable people here that never respond in a condescending manner, no matter what the question posted is. Advice given here always seems to be correct, unlike some other sites. Somehow it is self policing and not nice people don’t stick around here. For years I thought I knew a fair amount about WH tractors but then I joined here and still learn new things all the time. This place might possibly be the only sanctuary on the internet for common courtesy, friendliness, advise (WH or not) and encouragement. I still venture out there into the darkness of the web more often than I probably should but I always come back to this little oasis nestled in the middle of all that chaos. I'm truly thankful to have this place to go. At the time I had no idea what a Wheel Horse was when I bought a 416-8 with a Ark FEL, maybe 2006-7? ( Super lucky) Then built a back hoe for it and starting sharing that on the web without even knowing there would be any interest in it. That's when I found this place and the crazy addiction began. Then found a RJ-58 and I didn't know the difference between a Clinton and a Kohler or even where the points were. People here were always friendly. offering advice and help. This simple little hobby of a bunch of old men playing with their little red lawnmowers has changed my life to certain degree. Changed for the better! MainelyWheelhorse 555 #24 Posted November 28 I've been a member here for six months... My first real introduction to the group was the 2024 Meet and Greet at @JCM 's house in September. It's kinda funny as I was figuring out how long I have been here, I looked at my first post. @87 416-8 horse mentioned something about eventually getting another tractor.... how prophetic he was! I've definitely found a good group of people here and gained a lot of knowledge on the ins and outs of these tractors. All while befriending some @ebinmaine and creating a camaraderie with many others. I am so impressed and amazed at the expertise and knowledge of many of the members here. And they are so willing to show and explain solutions to problems without judgement for the member seeking help. I have not met very many of the members here, but the few I have met in person display every positive attribute that many others talk about on this forum. I am glad and proud to be associated with such fine people. I give thanks for all the moderators this Thanksgiving Day.
