Buying and Installing a Dial-A-Height kit

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I've got a 1985 312-8 with no Dial-A-Height and thinking I should get it, as I'd like to plow with this tractor.

I'm seeing a ton of older posts on here, talking about how cheap and easy it is to buy a full blown kit with decals and trim and such, but can't find this part kit anywhere online. Likewise, lots of posts saying it's easy to install, but not seeing any instructions, videos, photos, etc on how to do it...

I did find a post here saying the part number is 86725 from Toro; however, the few sites I got hits back on just showed a variety of knobs, trim, etc related to that part number and not a Dial-A-Height kit in any way.

Anyone have any advice? Appreciate it!

Toro took the website for Wheel Horse parts down this year, so that resource is gone.  I'll suggest that you visit your local Toro dealer.  Maybe they still have the ability to Chace and order part numbers.  Toro is really proud of their parts, though.  One of the vendors that advertise here on the forum will probably have the parts you are looking for.

Thanks for weighing in! Hopefully a Toro vendor weighs in on this post, unless there is a way I can find them?

1. Contact K&B Horse Parts from our vendor section.

2. CALL Lincoln at A to Z Tractor in PA. Also from our vendor section.

As our tractors age you'll find that part number resources are no longer as helpful on a regular basis.

Another disadvantage to trying to find a particular part number is that it may be designed for a specific year or a specific color when there is a broad availability of other things that could potentially work.

Thank you sir. The parts diagram helps a bit. Hopefully somebody can weigh in who has actually drilled and retrofitted this before

I bought one years ago for my 310-8 , I think it came from Partstree . It is not hard to do , you may have to modify the tunnel plate (where gear shift and brake is located) .

You have to grind a notch in the shifter plate and the vertical plate. All the other holes are already there. Remove the cover plate on the out side of the lift lever and it bolts up right there.

You can see I got mine notch too big, but this is a modifited worker. has a few more modifitation on it.

I installed one on my sons 1985 312-8.
No holes to drill except for grinding the cover plates as Lee described.
