I had a great running unit but now it's burning points as soon as I push the starter button. What's up?

Shorted out wire or bad coil?

Two questions,

First, have you installed a new ignition coil? I ask this because the correct coil for a Kohler battery powered ignition system is an internally resisted coil.

Second, are the wire to the points and the condenser on the "-" post of the ignition coil?

Thank goodness I didn't fry the wire harness. Up and running now.
