D_Mac 8,623 #1 Posted November 21 (edited) Soooooo..... picked this up this morning. Kinda excited about it but also asking myself if I really need it. I need to learn to ask if I need it and not ask do I want it. It is a one owner 946 Snowco with original operators manual. Little rusty but not rotted. Fenders are the worst part of it. They are dented up pretty good. Has a hand winch up front, splash or gravel guard, non-skid decking all original. The previous owners purchased it new in 1965 when they bought a JD garden tractor from a dealer. Thank God it wasn't painted green and yellow. The cool factor on these little trailers are off the chart. Tilt bed just drive right up. So after buying it I have no way of getting home. My truck has no hitch. Call a friend who is a little leary of hooking it up because of the whole there's no lights or plate on it. We wind up taking it to a friend of his that was like a mile away. Him and I worked out a deal where as he is going to rewire it, install new LED lights and replace the cable on the winch for a reasonable price. I will get it from his place next week. Not sure what my plans for it will be. If I lean towards keeping it I would have to put a hitch on my truck. It sits pretty low so I'm not sure if just putting a ball on my bumper would do the trick. May just pass it on, I dunno. I could picture it painted up to match your favorite tractor color scheme. That's what these things were built for. Be a hit at the Big Show ! Wayne0 465 #2 Posted November 21 That's awesome!! What a sweet set up. I wish I stumbled upon that!
D_Mac 8,623 #3 Posted November 21 They are really nice looking when refurbished. Can't wait to get it home and drive the 1075 or the 875 up on it. Wish I had a place indoors for it.
Oldskool 6,644 #4 Posted November 21 Those are well built and great looking little trailers. There is one listed a day trip from here. I've thought about picking it up, but to many other things to work on. Will Wheel Horse hub caps fit on that?
c-series don 8,723 #5 Posted November 21 I believe this is one of them in the brochure?

There are bearing buddies on now that stick out some. Seems like you need one Don. Edited November 21 by D_Mac
76c12091520h 3,623 #7 Posted November 22 Maybe some photos will provide a little inspiration for you. Served my father well for over 40 years , and it's mine now and not going anywhere anytime soon. This trailer hauled every Wheel Horse that we sold or serviced. He bought it used and always said it was the best $100 bucks he ever spent 3 5
D_Mac 8,623 #8 Posted November 22 (edited) @76c12091520h Looks beautiful. Like I said not sure what my plans for it are yet. I just knew I had to get it. I also paid more then 100 for mine ! As of right now I can't even hook it up to my truck. What is that piece that runs across the width of the bed to stop the tractor from rolling ? Is that custom or an original piece ? My general belief in Bearing Buddies on a used trailer. These tell me that the last time a bearing service was done was never. I have trailers with Bearing Buddies, but I still like to pull the bearings out every other year & do a compete inspection / service. 2 1

D_Mac 8,623 #12 Posted November 24 @Marv any photos of yours? Any other members have one ? @Achto I will give it a good look over once I get it home. Like I said I dropped it off about a mile away from where I purchased it to have it rewired and new lights and winch cable. I think you and @WHX?? need one. The Tractor Mafia gonna make me an offer I can't refuse ?

D_Mac 8,623 #17 Posted Monday at 02:28 PM Well I thought that maybe I would sell this one but maybe I should just hang on to it if people are just junking them. I'm really surprised. I love how they look and function.
D_Mac 8,623 #18 Posted Monday at 09:46 PM Well put the hitch on the bumper of my truck. Should be ok. Don't plan on loading that trailer to the limit. I used grade 8 bolts. Waiting on the wiring kit to come in the mail then I will be ready to bring it home when it's done. I will register it after the new year.
SylvanLakeWH 25,600 #19 Posted Monday at 10:11 PM Curious: Is that hitch spec for that type of bumper application? Hard to tell from the pictures but the bolts look a lot lighter than mine...? Are there only two bolts?
D_Mac 8,623 #20 Posted Monday at 11:19 PM No it's universal. Mounts under the bumper where a ball would go. 2 bolts. 5/8 × 3 inch. Like I said it should be good enough for what I will need.
D_Mac 8,623 #21 Posted Wednesday at 12:38 PM (edited) Trailer might be ready today for pick up. Keep you all posted. Well it's home. Lights are installed and it has a new cable for the winch. First time I got a chance to take a good look at it. Needs some loving but the main thing is that it's complete and sold. Going to have my cousin come take a look. He is a jack of all trades. Not sure if the fenders can be saved or need replacing. Other then that, toss some paint on it and say it's finished.
