Husqvarna Power sweeper on C-161

Recommended Posts

Mareik

Hello from Norway.

Do you guys know or think it’s possible to use this on my C-161?

Is the Kohler k341 strong enough?

I can’t find a sweeper to my wheel horse here in Norway so therefore I’m thinking of modifying one to fit.

Anything is possible with the right skill level and tools.

The Kohler K341 is an absolute torque monster for the size that it is.

Is there any available specifications for the required torque to operate that sweeper?

Power should not be an issue.  i run my sweepster on a C-175 with tired KT17 that has over 2000 hours on it. (came from a JD 317)

That the Husqvarna is also run by a horizontal shaft engine should make adaptation some what simpler.  You just need to design a frame that would use the front and mid tachmatic.

One thing mounting an de-mounting my unit is a bear.  I never take it off.  Tractor sits most the year.  maybe an hour or two use per year  so even tired old KT should outlast me.

If you want I can take some better pictures of the mounting frame as hooked up....I am not taking it off to take pics..:P I am too old to wrestle with it again..

:text-welcomeconfetti:to the forum.  Lots of knowledge and good folks here, that are willing to share ideas and are fascinated by interesting projects.

Yes, and yes to answer both of your questions.  As @pfrederi states, you will need to modify or build a frame that will attach to the front and mid tachmatic points on your  Wheel Horse.  Glancing at your pictures, it looks like the drive pulley for the brush might need to be moved to the right a bit to line up with the pto -shaft and bearing sort of work.  You will need to plan for an idler pulley to maintain belt tension too.

Good luck and have fun.  It would be great if you posted more about this as you progress with the project.

I haven’t bought the broom yet, just trying to find out what my options are. Was it toro that made the  original?
another option is the sweeper from stiga but I think that would be harder to fit.

They are made by Sweepster, model C-48. I’m not sure if they are still in business? Mine is mounted to a C-141 8-Speed. The 14 hp Kohler seems to handle it with ease.
