Red-Bovine 324 #1 Posted November 20, 2024 I have a 1995 vintage 44" two stage snow blower on a 520H. I was doing some minor inspection and lubricating today and wondered how to check the oil level in the right angle engine driven gear case. I was able to check the auger gear case and it was fine. The manual says both were filled with 90 weight oil and recommends a change interval for the auger gear box but none for the engine driven one. I don't see any fill plugs or drain plugs on it and it does not appear to be leaking.
JCM 9,757 #2 Posted November 20, 2024 You can use corn head grease for the engine driven one. There is a plate you can remove to get the grease in there.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,149 #3 Posted November 21, 2024 Is this a gearbox supplied by Peerless?
Red-Bovine 324 #4 Posted November 21, 2024 It kinda looks like the Peerless. The two mounting bosses look right, but I didn't feel and plugs or grease fitting on the cover plate. Book does specify 90 wt. gear oil. I wonder if it is filled during assembly.
