Is this a Wheel Horse mid mount grader blade?

Recommended Posts

MainelyWheelhorse

Hi all, this popped up on the Facebook marketplace for cheaper than I’ve seen other ones go for that are legit examples. It says in the listing, it’s a Wheel Horse mid mount grader blade. I’m trying to figure out if it is or not. There is only one pic and I figured I’d ask the experts here before I considered looking into it. Thanks!

No, that was it. I haven’t seen one for under $300 in rough shape when they do come up. When this came up it was $90 and local. I thought it could be a Toro/Case or other red tractor too. It could possibly mount off the Attach-o-matic under the engine.

I’m fairly sure that’s not one of the 2 types of mid-mount grader blades Wheel Horse/Toro made. But it looks like it could be modified reasonable easy if you have the skills and a welder.

Is the blade casted steel or just steel shaped ?

I'm thinking is an older Allis or Simplicity  looks like one I had along time ago that one the blade was casted steel. It be came  my first belly blade for my 753 still have it. I only used the blade and made my own frame. It weighs a lot more than my Nos Wheel  Horse blade. Gives your arm a work out. Great down pressure.

Nope!

A person with a torch and welder could make it work. The older type 40" blade was attached to the mid mount and is pictured below.

The newer ones attached to the rear axle bracket and look like this.

@oliver2-44 Ok, after thinking about the placement of the Attach-o-matic mounts. It seems like it could be mounted off the mounts under the engine. It could be picked up and down by the lever that picks up and down the deck. It looks like it pivots too. So maybe something spring loaded to pivot it?

It looks like plate or thicker sheet metal bent into a blade.

@953 nut i thought it might not be. Still might be interesting to adapt though.

Looks like an Allies Chalmers blade. I've had 2 of them adapted to work on a WH and because they are heavier they work better.

Definitely doable. Using the mid mount or the rear axle bracket you just need to add a piece of 3/4" round stock for the pivot point.

Here is my Allis , Simplicity  blade made Wheel horse . It attaches to the rear attachmatic where you attach  the snow blade. I used for years. The Nos Wheel Horse blade is  under the home-made  blade in the pic

@Eriks Red horse herd Looks like it would be simple enough to mod. The only thing you would have to add would be a way to pivot it from the seat. Although My four wheeler has a blade pivot like that and its not too hard to get it to work.

What I found when your using it angled. You find a way to  not get off so much to angle it back . Use it that way. MORE SEAT TIME. LOL

I guess  you could make a pivoting pin and arm with a spring so the pin snaps in place.

@Eriks Red horse herd Maybe a shorter version of the plow pivot pin setup?

It's a Simplicity Sovereign, and earlier large tractor blade.
