clintonnut 126 #4 Posted September 9, 2009 Here's a pic of David's tractor. You'll know it when you see it because of its obnoxious back fires David is on the left eating watermelon, you can see the hood of his tractor. Maybe he will post a better picture of it. Duff 206 #8 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi, David, and ! Glad to have you aboard! Got a 312-8 myself that likes to backfire if I don't let it idle for a few minutes after working. Sounds like a frggin' M-80 when it does pop! Duff :scratchead:
nylyon-(Admin) 7,275 #9 Posted September 10, 2009 Welcome Dave. My 414 does the backfire thing too, just have to shut it down at half throttle and no problem. Letting it idle for a couple of minutes works too, but if you're in a rush, just put it at half throttle and turn off the key. No more B.S.S when doing it that way. clintonnut 126 #10 Posted September 10, 2009 We'll we brought his tractor to the Rough and Tumble and it barely idled. So we adjusted the carburetor so it would run at any speed well. It runs a little leaner than normal which makes it backfire. He likes it though. It's fun to watch at night. The main thing is there is only one adjustment screw so if you adjust it to idle nice it will backfire. Charlie
