1990 (?) 312-8 with the Kohler Magnum 12. Can the fuel filter be picked up at my local Tractor Supply store? Anyone know the part number off hand? Thanks!

Yeah it looks pretty simple and that would work. I didn't know if there were different levels of "filtration" that could starve the engine of fuel. Happened to me on a generator once... Thanks!!

Stay away from these type filters. They tend to air lock (happened to me more than once) and the cheap version of these the media falls apart.

Stepped Fuel Filter 1/4" Universal Lawn Mower Plastic Nylon Clear Inline Fuel Filter 6mm (2pcs)

I use the Briggs and Stratton filters they sell at TSC.  Good quality.

I've had 4 of those cheap clear plastic fuel filters air lock. Even with an electric pump. Had a couple tractors in for service with them and the fuel bowls are filled with filter material. I use the red Breaks and Scrap Em pancake filters now

That will work.

One reason I prefer the clear filter is so I can see any particulate it catches. Definitely a plus with a metal tank or if you have a fuel sensor that can drop debris.
