Marv 924 #1 Posted November 9 May be an exercise in futility. I am working the front axle on my loader tractor. I have bushed the spindle bores with oil lite bushings. Going to use thrust bearings in place of the original slip washers. The needles are quite thin. I am thinking a lighter lube than the grease we normally use might be better to allow the needles to roll easier. Which lubricant would you recommend? If the spindles were sealed, I would consider gear oil. Marv

oliver2-44 9,787 #3 Posted November 10 I would use the same EP 1 or 2 grease as used on the spindles. since the thrust bearing is located below the axle spindle hole it is going to get grease from the spindle hole sooner or later. There's no housing to keep a thinner lune around that thrust bearing.
Marv 924 #4 Posted November 10 Thanks for your replies. I am probably overthinking this. I was thinking a lighter grease would allow the needles to roll easier. Marv
