Many of the breather covers have been deformed over the years by people over tightening the center nut to stop leakage. Can confirm, I've done that myself. Also make sure the mounting surface of the valve cover is clean and flat. Sadly I think my breather cover was in good condition, until I was the one who over tightened... stupid dark garage I didn't realize I was crushing it! It seems to still be flat around the edges though. I'll look at it in more detail when I get in there tonight or tomorrow.
