Already did!  Voted early for the first time in my life.  I tried to be a educated as possible on what we were voting on.  I agree, "no matter your preference, please get out and vote"--I'd like to add "after taking time to study the candidates and the various topics that lie before us".

So agreed! LEARN, then vote!

We have voter apathy here, people are happy to moan about the cost of living but won't get up and vote.

We have postal voting too, but that is also too much trouble.

I think folk are too comfortable,  nothing mobilises them anymore.

Take away their mobile phone, their three hidays a year, their four cars on the drive and maybe they will start to listen.

Voting is your only lever to pull, people died to get the right to cast their ballot.

Whatever colour or party, get out and make your voice heard....

I'm not a fan of mail-in balloting, but I have decided that early in-person voting, as long as it's within a couple weeks of election day, is fine. If I were to die between the time I voted and election day, my vote would still count.

I took Tuesday off specifically to go vote, then decided to go do my state's version of "early voting" (They will be very clear that is isn't "early voting" at the elections office) about two weeks ago.

Now, since I am still off Tuesday and I expect that voting will be a nightmare this year, I'm going to use that time to facilitate my wife getting to the polling place in-person.

I agree that most people should vote. But I really don't want uninformed voters casting ballots. Basically, if a yard sign or TV commercial can sway your opinion, stay away from the poles.

Now that right there is the problem.

My wife and I have been voting early for a couple of decades. Last time we voted at the designated polling place on election day the weather was horrendous and from that time forward we decided we would vote on a nice sunny day at the time of our choosing. Why not, we are retired and don't have to ben tied to a particular day.

In some cases the issues on you ballot are as consequential as the candidates for high office. Don't just read the summery, understand the issue and the potential ramifications of the issue.

My all time favorite was an issue on the Florida ballot about sixty years ago.  The issue "LIMITED" the taxing ability of the South Florida Water Management Authority. The SFWMA had no taxing ability prior to that but since the voters limited their ability to a certain amount they now had the authorization to tax.

Examples like this are the reason that the uniformed should not vote.

Here in Maryland this year, there is a controversial Ballot Question. Lawn signs everywhere say Vote Yes on Question One. Likewise, and equal number of signs say Vote No on Question One. When a local reporter asked people going to the early voting polls if they knew what question one was about, the majority said "no, not really". My party told me to vote Yes or No.  It breaks my heart to think that we as a people are so easy to persuade, that an important question is voted on just because someone tells you how to vote.

And often candidates for "high office" are not nearly as impactful on your day-to-day life as the ones for your local offices. And policy positions are not the end all either, communication ability is also key.

In my district we have a long-term well-liked state rep stepping down from her seat to run for state senate this year. There were two guys running for the nod to in the primary for her house seat. One stopped by my house doing a door-to-door, I like what he said, told him if he was telling me the truth on the things he supported I could get behind him. Then we had a town hall. Him and the other guy had basically identical platforms, but the other guy was much better at communicating his positions and WHY he took them.

You are free to guess which one I voted for in the primary.

On Red Square, shouldn't we be talking about garden tractors instead of who you think should have the right to vote??  :bow-blue:

Since the heading is “non tractor related discussion” I don’t see the problem.  This sort of discussion just might make Red Square a bit more interesting.  🤔

Last I heard...you have to be a U.S. citizen and 18 years or older to vote.  That is all that is required.  Which half of the electorate do you guys think is uneducated??  Sounds like politics to me...take it to Face Book.

The Topic was Get Out To Vote...not who should be allowed. :eusa-think:
