By that tag, you have a 1966 L-156.

 

And BTW, the leaky axle seal is fairly common. They are easy to replace provided the hub comes off without issue. The transmission uses regular gear oil (any 90w or similar). That little plug on the left side of the transmission is the only way to check the oil level on that tractor. It should be right up to the top of the peep hole on level ground. 

Got around to changing the tranny oil, I’d say she was a….. little over due. Had to use my oil vac after this initial chunk came out. Probably will drive it for a little, and flush it again because there has to be tons of remnants in it

Sadly, this is quite common. It’s what happens when the PO fails to replace the shifter boot.
