D series Belt Replacement

Hey all, I need to install a drive belt on my 75 D180 for my snowblower.  I've looked through a bunch of D-series owner's manuals, and none seem to mention replacement procedure.  The PTO pulley is fixed, save for engaging the PTO and there is minimal movement at the snowthrower pulley. There's no idler or tensioner as far as I can tell.  Do I have to remove the PTO pulley?  That seems to be a required service item.

Same question for my 80 D200 as well really.  

 

Using the recommended 4L490W belt.

That's it?  Flip the eccentric bolt over?  

I wasn't expecting rocket surgery, but I thought it would be slightly more complicated.  I'll poke around with it later.

I've copied the text here, for future reference.  Those manuals can be tough to read.

 

1973-1974
Installation of Drive Belt
Remove grille from tractor.
With pivot arm eccentric (R) in position shown by dotted lines, place V-belt on tractor engine pulley (forward groove) and gear box pulley. 
To put proper operating tension on V-belt flip pivot arm eccentric (R) over center as illustrated.

Adjusting Drive Belt Tension
If additional tension is needed on drive belt, remove clevis pin (Q) from yoke of turnbuckle (S) and rotate yoke assembly counterclockwise.
To decrease tension, rotate yoke assembly counterclockwise.
Replace clevis pin and hair cotter pin and snap pivot arm eccentric (T) over center to lock in operating position.
NOTE: Proper tension on V-belt will allow approximately 1/4" deflection when firm finger pressure is applied midway between pulleys.

Still no clue what the hell I'm supposed to be doing here.  

Somebody have a real picture or video?  Hell, I'll take a line drawing.  Anything is better than that manual.

It sure is.  The picture is so washed out.  

 

I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but I haven't seen anything that moves the pulley.  I've got to set aside some time and really get in there.

After reviewing the manual for an IH H42/48 blower, which had significantly better pictures, and just poking around - I got the belt on.

 

But the belt tensioner still has me confused.

It appears it was originally mounted upside down.  So I flipped it according to the IH manual but now I don't know if mine is bent or not.  I know the threaded clevis bolt is (clearly bent) but the top part of the bracket has a curve, and I don't know if that is on purpose.  

 

And what I think is part T snap pivot arm eccentric doesn't line up with anything

Ok so I've determined that my bracket is definitely bent.  I stuck it in a vise and managed to get it mostly straight.  The belt tension is way too high, the auger engages when the PTO is not.  

That threaded bolt with clevis, is that available anywhere or should I just weld something together?

Having a real hard time removing the PTO.

My friction disc is mostly gone.  

Yes.  I've looked at the manual.  

I have a key way but no key...

From what I can tell, all that's holding me back right now is this stubborn snap ring.  I've got it soaking in knocker loose.  We'll see what happens.

      My '74 D180 has a lot of trouble pushing snow.  Weighted tires, but nothing else at this time.  I've found it gets stuck frequently and only one wheel spins.  Do these tractors not have a limited slip/locker arrangement?  How does everyone manage with the infamous one wheel peel?

      I got a D-180 for $250, and the governor is messed up, the points won't open or close, and I took it apart and was being stupid and messed some stuff up in there, and now I need a new one.
      Where can I get one that's not on eBay for $200?
      I also forgot to say it was a Kohler K482, and I'll throw some pictures of the tractor in as a treat.

      Hello fellow Horse Heads long time no post for me, life gets crazy & a lot of things change sometimes but anyhoo. So back a few years ago when I first got my 1994 314-H I had it at my shop going threw it. One of my customers walk past as im working and said, you know I think Iv got a Wheel Horse & im thinking "no you dont buddy". I give him my # to send pics thinking it was a big waste of time & after getting the pics I realized he did have a Wheel Horse! I hand shake bought it right there, asked him to bring it to my store & he said no problem. Well after almost 2 years it is finally in my orbit. I know very little about it other than his father-inlaw got it new and used it around his house moving snow and stuff. His father inlaw moved down south here when his daughter got married and gave the tractor to my customer because he had a farm & his the inlaw had no use for it anymore. Same with every barn find, "it was running when parked" 8 years ago, said one of the axel seal is leaking. Im happy and hope I can get it back in running order soon cause it is going to be handy around the truck farm!!
