davidtmercer 55 #1 Posted October 28 Recently acquired a 1976 D-250 that is in very good original condition. Will send pictures in the near future. No attachments. It turns over but has no spark. Going to remove the points to see if they can be cleaned up or replaced. Found a vendor named Rockauto.com that appears to have the correct replacement points. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=50085&cc=1291474&pt=11337&jsn=10401 Was wondering if anyone has ordered these points from this vendor or has another they can recommend. Would also like to know if there are others on RedSquare that have a D-250 that would be willing to assist me with questions. Searched for D-250 forum on Facebook but no luck, was hoping there was a forum within RedSquare, but have not discovered one yet. Thanks, Dave
953 nut 55,262 #2 Posted October 28 Found 186 D-250 postings on RedSquare, many are literature and manuals. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=D-250&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy&search_in=titles An additional search for Gutbrod yielded 171 more results. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=Gutbrod&quick=1 Should be able to find a set of points in there someplace or go to NAPA or a foreign car parts supplier that handles Renault ignition parts.
squonk 41,126 #3 Posted October 28 They "normal" Renault" points didn't match up to what the D250 used. I tried to match up what they used when I worked at NAPA and failed. I think you need to find some place that deals in parts for Continental engines. That was another co. that was a pain to get parts for. They were like AMC. Just threw on what was on the shelf or in the bin when they were built.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,046 #4 Posted October 28 Just making sure you are aware of these files. The 61-20RG01 model number was used for two years 1966-1967 so some of this will be duplicated. The search results are not in any order so look through them all. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=61-20RG01&quick=1&type=downloads_file
ri702bill 8,327 #5 Posted October 28 David - at the bottom of the RockAuto link is the interchange of the points to OE Factory parts. Maybe the OE WH number is there?? RockAuto - yup, thumbs up. Good prices for quality parts - IF you can wait for them to arrive - usually 3-5 days. The downside can be the cost to ship it to you. Check out the total cost before you commit to buy. Standard Motor Products - thumbs up too.
953 nut 55,262 #6 Posted October 28 Take a close look at the distributer to see if it has a tag or numbers/letters stamped in that could be helpful.
