bitten 134 #1 Posted October 26 I have a 69 GT14 that I put a 16hp engine on. I messed the pulley up that was on the tractor to begin with so I got a pulley off of a 417-A that is smaller then the original. My question is will this pulley work or do I need to find an original GT14 pulley? Thank you for your response.
wallfish 17,023 #2 Posted October 26 -Smaller diameter pulley on the engine will slow it down but it will work. Smaller pulley also used on the trans can speed it back up to normal speed with the smaller engine pulley. -Changing pulley sizes also equals changing the belt length required. There are plenty of pullet/belt calculators online that do the math I'm surprised a 417-A hydro pulley is smaller but I've never had a GT-14 to know what's what. Typically guys have used the bigger hydro engine pulley to speed up their manual trans tractors. All that being said, it's probably easier to find the correct pulley IMO. Put an ad in the wanted section on here. Try calling A-Z tractors who is a vendor on here as he might have something.

Ed Kennell 38,329 #4 Posted October 26 (edited) If it is a gear drive, an incorrect diameter engine or transmission could also require alterations to the belt guard to restore the belt support for proper declutching. Never mind, I see the '69 GT14 only came with a Sundstrand. Edited October 26 by Ed Kennell
