ri702bill 8,311 #4 Posted October 16 And do not overlook the most important - and taken too lightly task - retorquing the head as many times as it takes to achieve consistent torque when cold. Warm up the engine under no load - maybe 10 minutes - let it cool, retorque. You will be surprised that what you did set at "tight" is no longer tight at all. Thermal cycling allows the gasket to compress to its working thickness I did a 6 HP Tecumseh that took seven cycles to achieve the correct torque cold... 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
