WheelHorseVH 104 #1 Posted October 14 Hey all. Anyone here install Matt's hydro pedal on a 96-97 520H? If so, I have a few questions. These late model 520s had a couple differences vs the pre-96 models and I am just trying to figure out what I am up against. 1. Footboard (running board) is longer than pre-96: It looks like I would have to cut the footboard and the footrest pad a bit to expose the 3/4" mounting bar under the footrest. Or buy a pre-96 version of a footrest and install that instead. Is that accurate? 2. PTO cover interference: Has anyone used the pedal successfully while using the black plastic PTO cover? I know the majority of folks will say leave it off but what can I say, I really like the look and would like to keep it if possible. 3. Plow handle interference: I am using a plow with the 520 extension kit on it with the angled handle for adjusting blade angle. It looks like when I angle the blade back into the rightmost position, it would interfere with the pedal. Is that true? Answers, as well as any other "gotchas" or ideas are greatly appreciated. 76c12091520h 3,668 #2 Posted October 15 I did a complete teardown and restoration of a 520 a few years back and I documented it here on Red Square titled " restoring my 520H ". When I did the initial build, I installed one of Matts pedal kits on the tractor before I tore it down for paint.... It DID NOT go back on the completed tractor for a variety of reasons. 1 Footboard length shouldn't really be an issue as the existing pedals and bars have never changed location throughout production, just a slight change in the shape ( not the size ) of the footrest. Pad will likely need to be cut. 2 Should not interfere with the cover. 3 If it doesn't hit your pedal now, it shouldn't hit it after installing a pedal kit, whether you're using one of Matts kits or one of our OEM reproductions. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Would you mind mentioning them? Or if you already did in another thread please point me in the right direction and I am happy to look and learn from your build. 76c12091520h 3,668 #4 Posted October 15 The mechanism (linkage and hardware) was fine, but I felt the pedal was poorly made and did not match up design wise with the other pedal. It was difficult for me to catch the reverse portion of the pedal with my heel to rock the pedal properly. rmaynard 15,580 #5 Posted October 15 I put one on a 1996 416-H. No modifications. Only thing I did extra was to install an extra return spring, and I completely loosened the tension nut on the cam. I also lubricated the cam. No need to have the cam stop in any position as you are doing all the control work with your foot. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
