ShawnsRJ 16 #1 Posted October 12 Hello and thanks for adding me to your group. I was wounding how many different years of parts are on my Suburban obviously it’s not original. I’ve been trying to contact a fellow on the web named VINSRJ since I use to own a few back in the 90s but we’re lost in a fire. The 1960 400 and 550 are the same tractor except for the engines and electric start stuff Kohler K91 is correct but probably a replacement engine The foot rests are 1960 Looks like the gas was changed and probably not an original tank. The cap is sitting up too high The front wheels have been changed. Looks like new tires on wheelbarrow rims. The bracket on the front is for a dozer blade. wallfish 17,023 #5 Posted October 13 There will be a cast code on the trans next to the shifter. If it ends with 0 it's 1960 trans. Your tractor is most likely a 400. That casting is from late in 1959. Most likely it was an early 400 tractor. The side plates for the suburban are different than the RJ, whereas the brake band tab would be different. On a 45 deg angle for the suburban. Vertical straight up and down tab on the RJ. Of coarse it's always possible parts are changed over the years but...who knows. I can see the 45 tab on your trans. ShawnsRJ 16 #15 Posted October 13 Well I looked all over fb with no success finding Vinsrj. So I’ll ask you guys one of the questions I was going to ask him. I found a RJ35 the major problem with it is someone cut the frame and shorten it the C- channel that is why on earth they did this I’m not sure. I was thinking about buying it and welding a piece back in to put it back to factory length so a hood can be put back on. Has anyone seen this happen before? Hey neighbor I’m just a half hour north of you . @VinsRJ you out there ? @Jake Kuhn (from South Haven) Has a couple RJ35’s for sale on FB and eBay I believe and is well versed with RJ’s and Suburban’s . ShawnsRJ 16 #20 Posted October 14 I have not purchased the RJ with the cut frame.I’m a little Leary with buying something that going to cost a ton to rebuild. That’s why I’m asking for the length of a rj35 frame because steel is not cheep and if it’s going to be a lot of money I’ll just buy the one Jake Kuhn has for sale. Which I’m leaning towards.
