The Sundstrand 91-1140 is listed as being installed on the 1974 to 1977 C-160 model. The drive pulley being splined rather than being keyed to a round shaft would be tie primary difference.

Buying a used Sundstrand without being able to test it is a real crap-shoot unless you know the seller and they stand by their product. A-Z Tractor can be trusted and tests everything they sell.    https://www.a-ztractor.com/

I have swapped several models of Sundstrands in different tractors.      I believe the mounting and motion control linkage is the same on the 90-2046, 90-2062, 90-1136, 90-1137, and 90-1140, so they should be interchangable.     Maybe Paul  @pfrederi can confirm or correct me ?

74-77 is too new for me.  D series all had splined shafts.  My Charger/Electros all had woodruff keys.  Maybe WH thought 16hp was too much for a woodruff key???  Swapping the drive pulley would resolve any mismatch.

Paul answered your question.

I have installed a 90-2046 Sundstrand from a 1972 Charger 12  in a 1974 C-160 that had a weak 90-1140 Sundstrand.

It was a direct bolt in requiring no changes to the linkage or input pulley.        As I stated above, I believe all the 90 series Sundstrands are interchangable.  The tow valves are different and the input pully/shaft connections are different, but that does not effect the installation.

What tractor are you planning to use this transmission ?

Not with out a lot of work...Motion control is on the wrong side...could be fixed but,,,What is your level of being into mechanical adjustments.

Not to mention, I thought the D-180 had the hydro pump mounted up front in front of the operator position, and then hydro lines ran from there to the transmission..... or am I thinking of a different D-series?  This one has the hydro and trans in one pieces, so definitely wouldn't work in a D-180... Although as mentioned with some mechanical skills and know-how of the sundstrand hydros, one could rebuild the existing D-180 from parts of these sundstrands....

You can separate the pump from the motor then mount the pump on the front end of the D series manifold,  However motion control will be on wrong side and have to be switched inside the pump. and I forgot to ad the input shaft for a D has to be splined not keyed so you would have to swap out input shaft.  It would not be a project I would want to tackle anymore.
