Dawgman 5 #1 Posted October 8 Good afternoon! I recently removed the engine cowling to clean the magneto and completely forgot where the black wire with yellow terminals hooks to. Assuming on one of the bolts that holds the rectifier in place??? 1
Sparky-(Admin) 21,315 #2 Posted October 8 Looks like a ground (voltage regs require a good ground) so put it under one of the voltage regulator mounting screws. 2
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,041 #3 Posted October 8 Does the black wire go back to the oil pressure switch?

Looking at the pic on something bigger than my phone. Tough to tell in the pic if that black wire goes to the other yellow loop connector
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,041 #6 Posted October 9 Can you post the tractor model and serial number so we can look at the correct wiring diagram? Most likely under the left side of the seat on the rear fender pan.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,041 #7 Posted October 9 Found an old post where you stated it is a 2004 model. The only black wire on the diagrams are the grounds. Wires with yellow insulated terminals are not original. Is the other yellow connector to the left connected to the chassis metal and the same wire? That would make it a ground wire and was probably added to the regulator mounting screw to double up and it is often recommended by members if there is a charging problem. Click on the tractor in this link and again on the diagrams that come up to enlarge them.
peter lena 8,625 #8 Posted October 9 @Dawgman made a point of tying battery ground bolt point to engine using a bolt on cable connection , and from there to related poor ground spots , lights rectifier . switches etc, never count on a cooling tin for ground transfer , very often related bolts are rust coated . also like an electrical enhancer , lube / spray , check as you set up . pete

peter lena 8,625 #12 Posted October 9 @Dawgman personally would not hesitate to break those connections free , wire brush , aerosol electrical enhancement , been there a long time , insure your grounding , pete
