MainelyWheelhorse 558 #1 Posted October 6 I have what I’m thinking is a 42” rear discharge mowing deck I got with my 87 308-8. I’ve been all over the implement manuals page, and can find 42” RD deck but I’m not sure of the year. I’d assume it was an 87 like the 308 but I’m not positive. Thanks! Gary S Minnesota 52 #4 Posted October 8 I have that same 42” RD deck. I also received “mulcher” insert ( molded plastic) with what appears to be two areas for the blades to revolve in. No makings or ID on the plastic. I can’t for the life of me get that mulcher in position under the deck. I’m wondering if the mulcher I received is actually for a different deck. Sorry no photo. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,090 #6 Posted October 8 If you can read the numbers in the bottom box of the decal that is the Julian build date that batch of decks were assigned for production.
Gary S Minnesota 52 #7 Posted October 8 Here is a photo of my “recycler”? Thanks for looking1
Lee1977 6,774 #8 Posted October 8 If it fits a Wheel Horse deck it would be for a 37" two blade deck.
peter lena 8,716 #9 Posted October 8 @ GARRY S MINNESOTA , nice that the baffles are not there , have removed all of mine on my 3 decks , typically creates a rot box , that is never cleaned / aired out , been doing this for years , also store them over winter , with a minimal clean out and an oil soaking , found the combo of lubrication / heat , absolutely stops deck rot / rusting , also detail in a no fail bearing lubricant , in all related bearings. have zero grass debris in my decks , have them wall mounted over winter , just like picture , pete
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,090 #10 Posted October 8 The only kit I am aware off. Could be added to a 42" rear discharge deck that did not come with one.
Gary S Minnesota 52 #11 Posted October 8 Thank you for all the responses to my mulcher question. Pretty much confirms that the mulcher attachment I was given when I purchased the deck is not correct or even adaptable to the 42”RD.

Gary S Minnesota 52 #13 Posted October 10 Thanks for the photo. that’s about what I envisioned it should look like. Noted the shiny triangular pieces near each of the blades. Are they too part of the kit—or something you designed?

Are they too part of the kit—or something you designed? when i got the one recycler mower deck it was not in good condtion and the "fins" as i call them were in bad condition rusted, cracked, fractured etc ---- so i took one fin to a welder fabricator - who on his computer engineer designed them to match and i had him make all new ones and I installed them with new bolts. I also had another recycler and cleaned rust and primed it then painted the bottom black
