I'm not familiar with the D Series but the C Series did have a "Wheelhorse Dealer offered" Front End Loader for years.

Backhoe,  I don't know.

Be VERY careful with using any paint removal chemicals on that. Check closely to see if that plate has embossed letters/ numbers under the paint.

@Pullstart  Is that where the only ID is?

:WRS:

The "D" could have been equipped with the loader and backhoe from the dealer. They would have been "Allied Attachments" offered by Wheel Horse dealers but not built by Wheel Horse.

The model number tag that has been painted over can be cleaned up with a careful application of oven cleaner or lacquer thinner on an old tooth brush. Use gloves and eye protection and be surer you don't get it on painted surfaces you wish to protect.

Some brake cleaner on a rag & a little scrubbing might remove enough paint to see the serial number.

Sundstrand transmissions have ACCELERATION VALVES AND SPRINGS that have to be replaced from time to time.

Start with cleaning the linkage and adjusting/replacing any worn/sloppy components.  Some of it needs to be lubes, some needs to stay dry.  The hydro pump and motor fins should also be cleaned to insure good cooling.

Also checkout the acceleration valves and springs as 953nut mentioned.

Probable just some maintenance in both areas is due.

There is an acentric screw on the linkage on the left hand side behind the battery. If this is loose or worn out it will effect reverse. You will probably need to remove the battery to get to it.

D-series service info in this manual.

When we see the model and serial number we can find more.

      Hi Red Square Community,

I am looking into purchasing the below pictured "POND" Walk Away. The unit itself has the cast in “POND” on the chain reduction housing. The two main things I am looking to learn are what value is typical for these to sell for. This one has a Briggs & Stratton model “N” engine. It runs and drives, but the throttle linkage needs some adjusting. It comes with a cultivator and plow implement.

Secondly, I was wondering if there is any way to determine what year specifically this Pond is from. The seller believes late 1940s and not 1950s. I am new to these machines, so I am looking for some guidance. Thank you in advance!

I’m looking for wheel horse tractors for sale or for parts in the Eastern Nebraska or western Iowa area. Preferably 8 speed manuals. Pm me or comment with what you have. The worst I could say is it’s out of my price or distance range. Edit: engine is not important, it’s going to get an engine swap.
      Thanks,
      John

Hello fellow Horse Heads long time no post for me, life gets crazy & a lot of things change sometimes but anyhoo. So back a few years ago when I first got my 1994 314-H I had it at my shop going threw it. One of my customers walk past as im working and said, you know I think Iv got a Wheel Horse & im thinking "no you dont buddy". I give him my # to send pics thinking it was a big waste of time & after getting the pics I realized he did have a Wheel Horse! I hand shake bought it right there, asked him to bring it to my store & he said no problem. Well after almost 2 years it is finally in my orbit. I know very little about it other than his father-inlaw got it new and used it around his house moving snow and stuff. His father inlaw moved down south here when his daughter got married and gave the tractor to my customer because he had a farm & his the inlaw had no use for it anymore. Same with every barn find, "it was running when parked" 8 years ago, said one of the axel seal is leaking. Im happy and hope I can get it back in running order soon cause it is going to be handy around the truck farm!!

I will post Pics as soon as I reinstate my membership
