It’ hard to tell what that will go for.  It doesn’ have the correct engine but it’s otherwise pretty straight.  Maybe $200 max?

Welcome!!

I'd be more concerned about the condition of the transmission - as @Pullstart already said, that is not the correct brand or series of engine. Odd part is that it just may go out the door for more than $200.......:confusion-shrug:

The starting price is exactly that, a start. Do you want it as a project and like spending time and money to achieve a feeling of satisfaction for a job well done?

By the time you replace the missing parts and get it running you may have been ahead of the game to buy a finished round-hood.      :twocents-02cents:

The tractor is a WH 1960/61 Suburban 400 or 401.  The Hood is a 61 Suburban 551.

It is missing the belt guard $60-$80 and exhaust shield $40. Reproduction ones of these can be found but a bit pricey.

Looks like it has the gas tank and rear slot hitch, which are missing sometimes.

The steering wheel is the correct one and while it may have cracks in the black plastic coating, these can be repaired.

The seat is the correct one.  It's encouraging that there's not an extra large washer with bubble gum welding as the center of these seats can crack.

That's an interesting engine.  Most replacement engine require the hood to be cut, but that one fits under there nicely., I'd be tempted to keep it due to its uniqueness.

The correct engine would be a Kohler K91 or a Tecumseh H55

It looks like the 3-piece transmission has a rubber boot over the shifter hole. That's a good sign.  Water enters these transmissions through the shifter hole when the boot is missing or in bad condition.

These tractors use the belt guard to guide belt slack to the engine pulley when you step on the clutch.  With belt guard missing there a chance gear grinding was happening when they shifted gears.

Used gears can be found, as this transmission used the same gears as the  2 pc 3 speed transmission.

Another item to look at closely is the front wheels.  The 58/59 RJ and 60/61 Suburban used a front rim that had a longer spindle through them.

These rims are getting hard to find due to the originals usually being filled with calcium chloride for weight, which rusted them out.

I have repaired some of these "holey" rims with JB Weld and fiberglass cloth.

What is seen of the hood looks to be in good condition, but there is one slight suspicious area.  The lower inside area of the hood shows some light colored spots. this could be rust through holes, or just leaves, trash etc.

Newer style rims can be used by putting a spacer (shaft collar or stack of washers) between the rim and spindle base.

Anyone recognize that engine, it really intrigues me!

Good luck at the Auction.

I wonder if that is a continental engine.

Thanks for all the information! I actually came across  a marketplace listing of the same exact tractor in the auction! The guy forgot to delete his listing when he consigned it. He didn’t know anything about it though. He just saved it from the scrapyard.  I got a few more pictures of it though. Really hoping I can get it for a good price! Not sure on what the engine is but he had some pictures of the serial number

It's a 1961 401.

A Kohler K91 isn't too difficult to find. They repop belt guards and heat sheilds

My question is what do you want to do with it? Restore it, get it running, use it? Both of those tractors are going to take some money to do any of those, restoring it and running would the most expensive. If you buy both and find an engine you can probably get one nice tractor out of both. Also if you like the C-100 tractors, those two ain't close to them. I live were those little round hood are darn near impossible to find but I wouldn't pay more than a $175 for either one. You live in the land of plenty, keep looking you should easily find a nice running C series for what it's going to coast you to get one of those running and in decent shape. JMHOB).

@oliver2-44 the auction just closed out today. I  won it for 150!  Can’t wait to go pick it up! Its my first round hood. Not exactly the prettiest but I think it will clean up nicely.

Nice score!

Sometimes having an old tractor that looks like an old tractor and works is more preferable over something you just look at and only wipe with a diaper. Nothing wrong with a full blown restore that becomes trailer queen either, if that's the goal and there's fun in that process too.

What are your plans with it?

@ML3 thanks! when I pick it up I plan on giving it a wash and cleaning it up  before parking it in the garage for the winter. I wanted to try and make it a winter project to fix up but I already started on a Cub cadet original so going to try and finish that first.

@oliver2-44 i brought it home and cleaned  it up. The serial number is really hard to read but after some research it looks like  AA7 continental engine .
