Tracy Gruetzmacher 3 #1 Posted September 30 The only difference between a C-145 hydro and a C-165 hydro is the horse power of the motor. Is that a true statement? The reason I ask is I have a C 145 hydro with a leaky pump. And I know where I can get a C 165 hydro donor that I know the pump is good with no leaks. Would this swap work?
Ed Kennell 38,598 #2 Posted September 30 to the Should work, they both have the Eaton 1100-032 hydro.
oliver2-44 9,847 #3 Posted September 30 Looks like you found a good donor. .Take us along for the swap. Remember with hydraulics, cleanliness is key.
daveoman1966 3,758 #4 Posted September 30 Just watch that they are both Eaton power. The odd-ball 1980 C-165 has Sundstrand power. From my spreadsheet: 01-16KS01 1980 C-165 Automatic Kohler K341AS-71803D 16 Sundstrand 90-1173
Tracy Gruetzmacher 3 #5 Posted September 30 The C 145 has a Sunstrand and the C 165 has an Eaton. I have been told to break tractor at 4 main bolts and swap entire rear end assembly out. Is this true?
pfrederi 17,856 #6 Posted September 30 NO Motion control Linkage setups are different between Sunstrands and Eatons.
Ed Kennell 38,598 #7 Posted September 30 Is the C-165 a roller? Much easier to swap engines than unlike hydros. 2
Tracy Gruetzmacher 3 #8 Posted September 30 Yes the C 165 is a roller. Hmmm, thanks for info.
Tracy Gruetzmacher 3 #9 Posted September 30 The 165 is beat up and the 145 is way nicer so switching rear end assemblies is still what I am thinking. The motion control would come with the rear end assembly if I split at the 4 bolt?
pfrederi 17,856 #10 Posted October 2 Take a look at the linkages under the panel ahead of the seat (and forward of the 4 bolt separation point.) They are different.
Tracy Gruetzmacher 3 #11 Posted October 3 I did look and they are waaaay different. If u look at my other post about pump shaft seal leak, I have the leak stopped with 518 loctite. So mayhave dodged the swap bullet. Thanks for all the help.

Easier to swap the engine, hood, fender pan etc.
