WHX?? 48,815 #1 Posted September 30 I have had them weep before but never as bad as this one. Pretty good sized drop every minute. Anyone seen this before and have a cure?
oliver2-44 9,743 #2 Posted September 30 The k181 (gray replacement engine) on my C81 likes to slobber out the governor shaft when the oil level is at the full mark. it doesn't do it if its on the low end of the normal range. I've had the breather off and verified with the manual that it was installed correct and the little drain hole back into the block was open. I've also lapped the valves, valve guides seem a little loose, cleaned carb, etc. De-carboned head and measured bore and it was just within spec but, I really suspect the rings have more blow by than the breather can handle. It was missing the carb and had sat open for ? years before I got it. So for a $100 tractor I just run it at the low-side of normal and try to keep an eye on it. So, I'm interested if you figure anything out. 1

Interesting enough I had just changed the oil and is right at the full mark. It didn't do it before the change and only had less than a quart in and didn't do it. I use the patented @Racinbob method of draining old oil into a marked juicy juice bottle. Will recheck level and maybe remove a little ... see if that helps. it definitely is coming out the guv shaft. Will check the breather as well.
squonk 41,100 #4 Posted September 30 I'm betting blow by is over- pressurizing the breather / gov area . There shouldn't be an excess amount of oil way up top unless overfull. A cylinder leakage test could confirm. I had a K341 that ran fine but leaked a tad out of the gov. Had half of the piston skirt missing.

squonk 41,100 #6 Posted September 30 Worn guides will also over pressurize the breather area.

Never ever never knock too much off that honey do list because it will NEVER get smaller anyway. Pace yourself and make excuses if necessary. LOL If you knock off too much of that list the next thing you know you have enough time to spend an evening binge watching Dowton Abby for hours! LOL Then you will need to get up early and clean up the leaves when there is still thousands left to fall off the trees.
