@8ntruck Fortunately, it was just some WD-40 on the ball and socket, So I'm thinking some electronics cleaner should chase it out pretty effectively (or not, lol).  I'll should have a chance to get back to it tomorrow (Saturday)

@8ntruck @ebinmaine Some electronics cleaner and some compressed air seemed to undo the WD-40. The hydro lever seems to have better resistance, but it was too late to fire it up for a test run. I'm tempted take things apart and clean it up better. Can you still get the plastic (or nylon) piece? It looks like it would certainly be a wear item at some point.

Replaced the light switch and got new throttle and choke knobs today. Decided it was as good a time as any to refurbish the dash plate. Satin black Rustoleum and a silver marker from my wife's craft drawer.

I only ordered a choke knob, but Toro sent me both knobs!

I used a heat gun to warm up the shaft section and they pushed on pretty easy.  Wear some leather gloves so you don't burn your fingers!

@ebinmaine UPDATE: Test drove the tractor earlier today, then installed the plow blade to make sure it was all there and in working order and test drove some more.  Cleaning the plastic slider/ball socket with electronic cleaner and compressed air seems to have brought it back under control No more acceleration creep!

Seems like I'm always taking this thing apart as I learn more about how it's been put together vs how it should be put together.

While I don't have plans to do a restoration, I figured I could freshen up the paint along the way.  It appears to have been painted with a brush at one point (and actually not all that bad).

 

After reading several threads, it seems color choice is somewhat discretionary, depending on the owner.

 

With that said, I found what looks like a good candidate for my needs. I've used Rust-Oleum's "Custom Spray" on some other projects and really like the adjustable spray patterns it offers. The fan pattern lets you lay down nice even coats.

 

When I saw this color at the farm supply store, I thought it was worth checking out. Turns out it is almost a dead-on match to the red of the hood decals. Of course, when I put on new decals, they'll probably be a completely different shade.

 

I've done body and paint work since I was 14 (49 years ) so yeah, I could go full resto on it but that's not what I'm after. 

 

"Satin Heritage Red". Not glossy, not flat. I did a quick sanding on the belt guard, a little primer, and laid on a few coats. I think this will do nicely!

@Blasterdad Man, our tractors could be twins, right down to the seats!  I just posted a wanted ad in the classifieds - looking for a mower deck adapter for my lawn vacuum. It's a Cyclone Rake using 7" hose.

 

I'd love to see a few pictures of your hitch setup!

The "hitch" is specific to that model of Trac Vac, more of a carrier really, it bolts to the top of the axle on both sides & one down through the stock hitch hole. Does your Cyclone Rake have wheels on it like a trailer setup? If so you'll only need the stock drawbar hitch. Here's what this one looks like anyway.

You can eliminate the inner bearings and spring if you replace the 14-75 stud with the later version that has a snap ring on both sides of the bearing. That way the pto linkage pulls the pto out when disengaged.

The 14-75 stud should be a press fit into the bearing.

Snap rings are pressed out when made so one side has rounded edges and the other side has sharp edges. Install with the sharp edges positioned to maximize their holding ability. The round edges can be forced out of their groove. So outer ring sharp side out and inner ring sharp side in.

@Blasterdad The Cyclone Rake uses a dual pin hitch and has swivel casters - so that the unit is stationary behind the tractor. I plan on fabricating a hitch. Your photos give me some ideas. Thanks!

Managed to pick this up for $10 on FB. It was listed 100 miles from where I live - but - it happened to be right on the route I had to travel for a work account in Minnesota.  I can honestly say I drove 500 miles to pick it up! 

 

It will go on the shelf for now. Still haven't determined whether my C-120 is worthy of a makeover - but if so, this will come into play.

@Blasterdad  My needs for hooking up a Cyclone Rake were pretty straight forward.  So, I threw this together with some scrap steel. Seems pretty solid. Once I find a mower deck adapter, we'll find out for sure.

I want to keep my other adapter for my Gravely zero turn. It has such a wonky deck design; I had to get pretty creative with the adapter.

 

    

 

I found a used adapter from a JD on fleaBay for $65 - I think I'll be able to adapt this previously adapted adapter to work.
