Tiller success!

Thanks to all who advised me and helped along the way. The tiller is hooked up and works like a champ! After a few trial and errors with belts and routing and so forth I got it all together, believe it or not is pretty quiet when it’s engaged, even tho it was a tad muddy out today.. well actually a lot muddy, I ran it anyhow for a trial run… I wish I had one of these years ago!!!!!! I’m still trying to figure out the spring assist lift, I have none of that, but I can muscle it up easily enough. I’ll most likely run this around 4-5 times per year, so I’m not sure I’m too worried about that.unless one of you guys have a bracket or two laying around you’d sell. Anyhow, thanks again and here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.. and yes I installed the snow cab the other day to try it on for size and was too lazy to take it off.. and then it started raining while I was playing with my new toy, so at least I stayed dry!

The manuals pictures are awful!  I found a snowplow bracket locally, already had the cable and the short chain came with the set up,

Ahhh .. yeah they ain't much. Maybe one of the boys can get you a pic.

The one that the eye bolt bolts into, and the top of the snowplow bracket that has the tab for the spring. I can probably fab both is those pieces, but I’d like to have the originals if possible.

There are plenty of great Wheel Horse implements, but the 36 inch tiller has to be one of the best.

Agreed KP... right next to a mid mount blade. Wished mine wasn't on a hydro but the lift is nice...

I notice on yours that you’ve attached the lifting mechanism on the rod that connects to the gearbox rather than the  bracket on the shell of the tiller. Can you give me a close up picture of that? Also is there a particular reason why you chose to mount it that way? Just curious is all. Also how does that hydro do with the tiller?

When I first bought this tractor I and fitted the tiller up I researched that that 104823 bracket was some sort of kit to get the tiller to work with other models. Evidently the the shell bracket did not come on some tillers and was part of some sort of fit up kit as well. ??

Perhaps one with a rear rockshaft? Why it was not rigged to the shell bracket I have no idea. 

 

After looking and studying manuals I determined it was not the best mousetrap and rigged it a different way.

 

You can see the lift assist eye bolt & spring.. 

 

Last pic how is how I have it set up now. Doesn't lift real high but passable. Just have to be careful in transit.. 

Would be much better with a rear rockshaft and may rob one off a 520 I have.

Same as any hydro it has a tendency to push the tractor. Constant speed changes and best to keep your hand on the motion lever.

Awesome! Thanks for the information! I’ll be on the hunt for that bracket peice for the snowplow bracket now. The rest seem easy enough to fab.

The original dozer flat bar on top of the axle housing is replaced with the same made from angle iron with a hole drilled for the spring. Item #23

I found out if you wrap a ton of sod around the tines, a 0 degree pressure washer nozzle will cut right through it!

And now page two: FOURWHEELHORSEMAN just scroll down to the vender section and click on Wheel Horse Parts and More then go to the Tiller section. He has everything you need the spring, eye bolt and the spring angle bracket for the spring to connect to the rear hitch. All of it will cost you less than half of what Parts Tree wants for just the spring.
