This severe of a hurricane that far inland is simply unprecedented. The rivers overwhelmed the residents so fast it was impossible to react in time. The one host of the mid-day radio show I listen to lives not too far from this area, and last week he was saying it's been about 100 years since something like this happened to the Asheville area.
