Sparky-(Admin) 21,352 #1 Posted September 27 The voltage regulator in my Magnum 14 quit. Swapped in the working one from my Magnum 10 and she seems to be all set and charging again. My question is: the two VR’s have different part numbers. Anyone know what the difference is and if its ok to interchange them? The one that died is “taller” than the working unit from the Mag 10. p

ri702bill 8,387 #3 Posted September 27 Mike - are the bolt patterns the same??? The taller one has a better heat sink design......
lynnmor 7,322 #4 Posted September 27 It might be that the larger one can handle higher amps, check what amperage the two engines put out.

ri702bill 8,387 #6 Posted September 27 Then the 05A would probably be the better choice. Manufacturers NEVER add more material to a product unless it the result of past issues - heat sink is a good example...
pfrederi 17,743 #7 Posted September 27 Magnums only had 2 part numbers for Regulators M-8 to M-16 used 2575503 (a "kit" because it included the mounting bolts) 15 amp There was a 25 amp system 2540301 Used on M-16 but regulator was very different ..had wires coming out see pic.

So for now the other one seems to be working well (just mowed the whole yard)
