mrc 812 #4 Posted September 27 i live about 40-45 miles from the NY state border. not far across the mass/ny border is a small town called new lebanon NY. they sell 91 octane ethanol free gas. i think i paid $4.00 -$4.50 a gallon last time i was there. not only do i use it in my wheelhorses but i fill up my old caddy prior to winter storage. i'm going to try this little airport next time i need real gas as i work fairly close by. the extra travel and expense is a pain but, no ethanol issues. regards mike 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It seems the aviation gas is still burning lead as a lubricant Quote Aviation gas still contains tetra-ethyl lead additives to lubricate the engine. Lead was taken out of automotive gas in 1986. Avgas still contains lead because a suitable alternative hasn’t been found yet, despite years of testing. Using leaded avgas in a modern car would ruin components such as the catalytic converter. Conversely, Jet-A wouldn’t work in a gas engine. It would be like putting diesel fuel in your gas-powered car, it just won't run. peter lena 8,602 #13 Posted September 29 @mrc since using STA BIL in all my small engine , equipment , the first thing you notice is , no fuel hose debris , in the fuel bowl . my first experiment with it was to clean out existing fuel sediment areas , tank , carb , so I could verify its storage claims . replaced old hoses , fresh filters , since that change over there has been zero / no debris in filters , or carb bowl , adding an ounce of STABIL to all my fuel tank top offs , lets me use regular ethanol gas , without any issues , isn't that what you want ? run 3 engines on this set up , regular gas , stabil is made for storage , chemical make up , has worked for me . as stated replaced filters , old hoses , cleaned tanks , no fuel hose debris in any holding area . buy the large bottle of stabil , add it to all my fuels , no distance travel involved . run my stuff year round , no fuel issues , my generator also uses it , fuel filter / carb bowl / clean clear , just sayin . pete 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
