Jason X 19 #1 Posted September 21 (edited) A part fell off my 72 Raider 10-8 today and I found out the hard way that it was the band that goes around the clutch wheel. It's the brake. I went for a surprising downhill slalom but I'm OK. Anyone know where I can get one? Edited September 21 by Jason X

Or did the brake shoe come off the inside?

Having done something similar myself, I would never laugh at you. …But I’ll say I will laugh with you. No brakes made my eyes get big on more than one occasion! I learned the hard way that just because you can pull a heavy trailer does not mean you can stop one! 4
Jason X 19 #7 Posted September 22 It's the shoe I believe but I didn't have even a spare minute to pull the wheel and look. AZ tractor, got it.

I'm gonna 2nd this ^ even with AG tread fluid tires and wheel weights - no damage or injuries lesson learned
Lee1977 6,661 #9 Posted September 22 Those older single peddle tractors are the worse once you hit the brake the clutch is disengage and it will freewheel. Steep hill are also bad even with brakes only one wheel will have brakes and the other will freewheel. I preferer the later model tractors with induvial brake and clutch peddles as you have a little more control.

When that spare minute shows up pop the brake off and post pics. You may be able to replace the shoe. The material is available from McMaster Carr or send me a pm and I'll slice a hunk off my bulk roll. It's an easy repair.

Eric what do you use for bonding the pad to the ring.

We've had two failures with that. I believe it's because we had the brake band TOO SMOOTH so the silicone didn't have enough rough surface to bond too. Regardless... we're now trying Gorilla Glue.

That seems like it would work just fine but with my luck I would glue the whole assembly to the transmission brake drum. 1

953 nut 55,243 #20 Posted September 23 Clean everything, use the adhesive of your choice (clear silicone for me), mount the band on the transmission and set the parking brake overnight. Works every time. 54 minutes ago, ebinmaine said: That seems like it would work just fine but with my luck I would glue the whole assembly to the transmission brake drum. Don't let @ebinmaine fool you, BBT does all the work and she doesn't make a mess. 1
