Phan 14 #1 Posted September 20 Dear Friends, I want to convert the attached mower deck (I got it free, don't know the model) to be used for my wheel horse 312-H. I plan to drill to attach a frame mower deck from the 312-H. Any sugestions? Thank you!
Ed Kennell 37,979 #2 Posted September 20 I converted several decks including this 48" SD. Simple, just attach the support frame to the attach-a-matic and the lift bar. Then position the deck under the support frame and drilll the holes. Here is a pic of how I attached the front to rear leveling rod. I also added two more anti scalp rollers as this deck only had one centered roller.

Phan 14 #4 Posted September 21 Oh ! Thanks ! Your deck looks mine too. How do you drill a square hole? Do you use any tricks?

To make a square hole without a punch I simply drill a round hole then use a square file to make it square. It helps to have a carriage bolt handy and test fit it as you file so you don't make the hole too big. If your round hole is the same size as the flats of the square hole then you are only removing the corner material so not a lot if filing is required.

Racinbob 11,030 #7 Posted September 21 You can actually run that deck with those brackets. It will mount right up. I ran one for several years that way. I simply used the drive belt setup that the newer tractor used (front mule drive). One disadvantage and it probably would have been OK. When the mower deck was lifted it moved to the rear a little bit effectively tightening the belt to what I felt was too tight. I didn't worry about it during the normal ups and down when mowing but when I was done I'd loosen it some.

It is intersting - I wonder if you have pics to post how you mounted it and what the lenght of belt is I need.
Racinbob 11,030 #9 Posted September 24 The mounting is really self explanatory and I don't remember the belt length. Try the belt intended for the later decks and go from there.
