JimSraj 429 #1 Posted September 18 Been trying to find a lift tube (107403) and flag (1986) for a 06-42ST42 05, updated to 79350, at a reasonable price with no luck. Can anyone tell me if these parts from other short chute blowers are the same and will work? If so which ones? As another option it Looks like they should not be too difficult to make if I had all the dimensions of both pieces.
ebinmaine 67,397 #2 Posted September 18 I have a short chute from the mid 70s that I'll be dropping off to @Maz91 Mike in the next few days. I can get you measurements on that if you like.

Definitely a (mostly) straightforward fabrication but dimensions are critical--the effective range of the arm on the rock shaft is only about 3” so not a lot of room for “play"! The “flag” component typically has a double bend offset at the rock shaft end to assure the lift force is center-aligned with the push rod going to the blower. It's possible that offset could be created accurately with the CORRECT THICKNESS steel, laid one piece onto the other.

I've made several tubes from 3/4" pipe. I flattened the blower end, drilled a hole and bent the correct angle on the end. Cut to the correct length after the flag is made and installed. Also made several flags from 1/2" round bar and welded two plates one on in each side that sandwiched the lift lever in between. This design puts the force centered on the rod.

That flag design is exactly what I was thinking of. Now if I had the dimensions for these parts I’d get started.

Pretty sure all of that info for the flag and lift rod has been posted on here before . Use the search on the upper right corner

peter lena 8,604 #12 Posted September 19 @JimSraj would personally go over LUBRICATED FUNCTIONAL DETAILING , HOW EASILY IT MOVES / LIFTS , used to also set my blower up on a 4x4 width wise , for initial lifting ease . chute height is all dependant on majority of snow type , regular heavy , short chute , light / dry / fluffy , tall chute , would also plan on moving snow with the sun angle to assist in melting blown snow . my snow now is light , blade work , maybe the walking snow blower , pete

JimSraj 429 #16 Posted September 22 Looks like the tube should be about 44-3/4” from the center of the hole to the end of the tube that the flag goes into. Flag at 11” long.

I’m not sure it matters as long as the lift tube length matches what I’m looking for but it would help confirm the 44-3/4” dimension it it’s the same model blower as mine. 06 42ST 05

I can verify the measurements and get back to you soon if that would be helpful. Should be able to get them by the end of the day tomorrow.

One lift tube that I had (and have passed onward) had a ¼”x 1” bar edge-welded along its entire length as reinforcement. Of course it was cracking at the unreinforced bend where it joined the bottom of the blower. Not sure what year or model that was for.
Maz91 202 #25 Posted September 24 Ok, so I took the measurements and can confirm the attached document by Cleat in post 11 is 100% accurate. 👍🏼
