C-161?

I got myself an odd ball. The tag comes up as a 1975 C-161. It looks just like a C160 but with the “wrong” decals and a different dash. What do yall think?

I'm thinking what you have there is a 1975 C160-8. 

The dash is likely from a slightly earlier model (??).

The decals might be replacements from the late 70s design.

Go by the metal tag, stickers are too easy to change out but that tag looks like it has been there since birth.

So all my info has come from the tag on the column which was when my surprise started. The tag says C-161

A c161 is 1978/79.  

 

Your model number 1 0381 is a 1975 C160-8 speed.  

 

You can also tell by the angle of the steering tower. Your tractor is made 1977 or earlier.

 you are spot on, it’s a 1 0381. So the master model list I got from RS says it’s a 161. Is that wrong? I am so confused with this one. Did they change the dash as well? I was wondering if they were started to which to the new style and mixed and matched parts from the two models

@ebinmaine is correct as usual. That is indeed a C-160 8 Speed. The C-1_1’s were only made in 78-79.

Not sure what your looking at, but the model list shows yours as this:

Looks like it is wrong, that is where I went too.

This one befuzzled me. The c-161 and other 1x1 models were supposed to start in 1978. But sure enough, per the metal tag, that's a1975 according to two different lists I have. The tower decals are c-160. The hood decals are 78-79........................

@Kblack ether way you have beast of a tractor. Those 16`s will do just about anything you ask of it. Eric has a few of them. He knows this model very well and others who have this model. Enjoy the ride.

I don't have any way to prove this but I've seen it multiple times. I believe that at some point, Toro canceled the availability of the mid-70s decals and people wanted to replace the decals on their tractors.

Not having availability to our Terry or other options, they put the later decals on.
