New "Light Duty" 'Horse Hauler

Afternoon fellas and Felletes...

Been using a 2011 Rogue with a CVT as a daily... cant tow "poop" with it... rating is 1000lbs and thats 999 too much. These CVTs are WEAK... but I digress.

Sold the Rogue to my Nephew as he was daily driving a '96 F350 4x4 with a 460!!

Bought a '16 Jeep Renegade 4x4 with a 6 speed manual. 4.43 rear gears and a full tow package. Its rated for 2000 lbs.

I hate driving my pickup in salt all winter... this will allow me to move tractors and such around, help my family and take trash to dump.

All the while the GMC Sierras frame says Thank You! Thank You very much!

A 4x6 trailer and one tractor with 42" sd deck is in the 1300 lb range. I tested it and am plesantly surprised at the performance.

Engine is a 1.4 l F.I.R.E Turbo so far MPG average is 32.5

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend

Yup, the same plaza as Barnes & Noble... Across from Olive Garden... The "fast food" of Italian eateries!! About 3 miles from my house...

I had my 2013 Sierra undercarriage sprayed every year I owned it. ( 5 yrs. Total) Just got it done. Checked their job the next day and I discovered that the frame had rotted. :( Could have gotten it fixed but for how long? Traded it for a loaded up super clean 2011 Honda Ridgeline from the South.

Well Ive only driven it a few hundred miles so far... but the rolling average on the computer is 32.5 mpg. Engine is an 85 cubic in 4 with a turbo, making 160 hp / 185 ft lbs

Im getting used to clutch and how to use 5th (.96 od) and 6th (.78 od).

It has 4.43 differential gears and 5th is just about perfect at 70-72. Drop it in 6th and hit a decent hill and watch mph sljp away till you drop to 5th... then maybe 4rth.

But it pulls the hills easy enough in 4rth without standing on the gas. The Turbo starts working at 3000 rpm and thats just about 70 mph in 4rth.

Sorry for the big explanation... but I know you like facts and figures

I always liked the Honda Ridgelines myself... for what they do and are capable of its a good solution for me.

Does it have cruise control?? Most standards do not, my last Saturn 5 speed did. Does it have the square taillights with the big X in the middle - looks like the cartoon depiction of the eyes of a dead fish?? Had a co-worked that bought one new, but an automatic. Interesting twist about thos cars - back when Fiat owned Chrysler. The Renegades (or was it the Compass?) wer assembled in Italy as rollers, shipped here to get the powerplant installed...

bought new a 2011 Ridgeline -- then bought new 2017 Ridgeline - -both terrific truck for my needs -- drives like upscale SUV -- but also was great for hauling lite trailer - or 2 SeaDoos -- or hauling to dump - Home Depot etc -- love the fold up rear seat and the trunk in the bed -- especially the independent suspension for nice soft ride -- i had a couple Toyota Tacomas but the stiff ride was too harsh compared to SUV like Ridgeline softer ride

Haven't gotten around to take pics of the Ridgeline. But here is a pic from the dealer:

Photo

Has the 3.5 with 133,000 on the scoreboard. timing belt was changed at 82,000. One owner. I have been watching YT video's and the comments are full of people with 300,000 plus on them. I yanked the rear fender liners off yesterday to inspect and Shoot some Krown rust preventer up in the quarter panels. Can't believe how clean this is. Cruised the lake shore with the sunroof open.
