520h Onan replacement coil

After battling random ocasional shutdown issues on the 1995 520h it’s finally being predictable and I think it’s malfunction is the coil. 

At 1st I thought it was fuel related as it would usually shut down going up hill. Replaced fuel pump, fuel lines and fuel filter, no change.

 

Then troubleshooting the wiring I replaced ignite switch and even hot wired the coil. Little change but when it did shut off if I got to the key fast enough, switched it off, then right back on, it would backfire and keep running. Still seemed to be happening more frequently  as time went on.

 

Yesterday, I started it and just let it run sitting in place. Fired instantly and ran fine for maybe 10 minutes or so. Shut down and no amount of cranking or starting fluid would even produce any joy whatsoever. Went out the next morning after it sat outside all night and it started instantly.

 

So my question is, any experiences or recommendations with after market coils? Anyone have a known good coil they would be willing to part with? Thanks in advance.👍

Most likely the ignition module under the flywheel is breaking down from heat.   Read over the thread at the top of this section.
